About Lauren Freedman

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I graduated from Vassar College in 2024, with a BA in Media Studies and Studio Art. My work engages with themes of ephemerality, childhood and kitsch. I am drawn to symbols of play and childlike imagery, composed in ways that aim to disorient these images and emphasize what is ultimately fleeting. My practice involves distorting the medium into replicating the digital, in order to examine the multiple layers of meaning put upon everything we value, monetize, and discard in modern culture.
